Forethought, Always!

carefully consider what will be necessary or may happen in the future

If you have viewed the promotional video for my LMT Chicago presentation you may wonder what kinds of information I will be offering. The things that I define as a higher level of fabrication.
Here is a simple way I avoid a possible future problem for my clients and their patients during transistional treatment. When constructing a treatment provisional I always air abrade the clasp tangs and treat them with GC Metalprimer II before they are processed in acrylic.
The reason is obvious to those who have observed that many times these appliance clasps get loosened in the acrylic by pre- and post-delivery insertions and adjustments during the course of treatment. This is because most construct these clasp placements using only retentive loops and only rely on mechanical retention. By pre-abrading the clasps during construction and then coating with metal primer prior to packing or injecting acrylic, I can be assured that the clasps are retained both mechanically and chemically on the full body of the tang, offering the extra confidence they will resist loosening over the treatment period.
Remember
“A job is just something you do for money, whereas a career is a long-term endeavor, something you build towards and work upon every day”.
