A post I recently made concerning GC Metalprimer Z initiated another question to me privately concerning another GC product, GC Acrylic Primer. I felt it would be a great post to those who follow me and use print resins and overlay composite over it for character.
The example I show here is a lower arch made of print resin. I treated the surface with air abrasion, cleaned with compressed air, applied a small drop of the primer, and exposed to a 20 second flash under the GC Labolight Duo.
I then applied a thin ribbon of GC Gradia Plus light body in shade A to the area. I flash (step) cured it for 20 seconds to firm it, applied an air barrier, and cured for 3.5 minutes in the long cure mode.
I washed off the air barrier, dried it, and carved the composite back on the tail end to almost nothing, took out a chisel and tried to pry off the thin layer. It was impossible to get it off without taking some of the print resin off with the composite.
The point is to explain/ illustrate the efficacy of the bonding capabilities of this product and the value /quality/ longevity that can be obtained using complementary products developed for a specific task.
I would be remiss if I didn’t add that it works great with conventional denture acrylic as well.
