provisional partial using self-cure teeth and Optiglaze for shade modification

Like everyone, I make provisional appliances. Many times, these appliances are recommended by me when a patient can or will only restore teeth that (in their mind) show. As we are aware this presents issues as without posterior support the maxillary denture in this case would be beaten to death as the patient seeks incising on the remaining mandibular dentition. It beats up the ridge, it beats up the remaining dentition, and it beats up the new denture. In these cases, I pre-fabricate a mandibular wax try-in on the semi-dentate arch sans clasps to be tried along with the maxillary denture. I use cold cure resin duplicates of teeth in these arrangements to keep down the cost of the provisional in the hopes that once illustrated to the patient the improved function with something in opposition they will approve a provisional as part of the treatment.
Illustrated here is that I used A1 self-cure resin for the teeth and how I used GC Optiglaze A+ to adjust the A1 shade to a matching A3 shade used on the new maxillary denture. This Optiglaze product can also be used to shade correct denture teeth if they are chosen for the provisional. Many times, I use broken sets of denture teeth and color correct them for usage.
This product is also IDEAL for matching dentition in a fixed temporization case. The only light needed to cure is already available at most chairsides.
